The Japanese way of dumping garbage or "Gomi Day."
Anyone who says that Japanese people have manner don't have to look any farther than before Gomi Day in Okamoto to know that this is not true.
Garbage is everywhere!! People dump there garbage outside all the time in designated garbage areas before the regulated time in violation of city rules.
Or they dump it in the Tenjo Kawa River or in some other place.
Garbage is strewn about by winds and animals. It is an embarrassment.
To make matters worse, by not separating your trash, some idiot from the city will put a sticker on the plastic garbage bag.
The garbage company will not pick up that particular plastic bag with the sticker on it. So what does this accomplish? Nothing!
The garbage just sits there so that everyone can admire it with a sticker from the city.
What a waste of taxpayers money to put a sticker on a bag that no person in his or her right mind will claim as theirs.
The person who put it there will never come back and take it away! He or she can get away with this because their is no one to enforce the rules.
I firmly believe that the only way to stop this problem is to install surveillance cameras at all designated garbage dumps.
People who dump illegally should be fined a minimum 50,000 Yen.
